«Participation Handbook of Urban Planning for Ukraine»
Recently, Ro3kvit: Urban Coalition for Ukraine presented the «Participation Handbook of Urban Planning for Ukraine», created by our participatory team in response to the growing need of involving the community in the post-war recovery of Ukraine.
Its purpose is to provide practical understanding on involving the public to the rebuilding processes to the planners, managers and government officials involved in the processes of urban planning and development of Ukraine. This is a comprehensive manual for the formation of standards and procedures in the field of urban planning. It can also become a valuable resource for trainers and teachers who see the importance of incorporation of urban planning components into their educational courses.
The handbook contains basic information about the principles of participation, its processes, advantages of participatory planning, examples of participatory planning in the world, as well as inspiring successful cases from Ukraine.
It is the result of the cooperation of different specialists from several countries:
• Fulco Treffers - Dutch architect and urban planner, Ro3kvit: Urban Coalition for Ukraine co-founder;• Daryna Pasyuta - Ukrainian architect and urban planner, Ro3kvit: Urban Coalition for Ukraine team member;• Timothy Van Epp -- research associate of the American Institute of Certified Planners and chairman of the American partner organization URAG;•Jing Zhang -- American planner, who works with the topic of participation in the context of transport planning in the United States;•Dominika Ľudviková -- Slovak urban planner and researcher based in Poland;• Khrystyna Boyko - director of the Ukrainian partner organization 3MIN Foundation.
«Participation Handbook of Urban Planning for Ukraine» was created in partnership with URAG: Ukraine Rebuilding Action Group and carried out with the support of 3MIN Foundation.
