Kremenchuk – climate‐proof urban strategy

In December 2024, the Ro3kvit team began work on a spatial strategy for Kremenchuk that will help the city become more resilient to climate change. This means more green spaces, better energy efficiency, adaptation to hot periods and the development of environmental solutions. Together with the municipality and local initiatives, we plan to develop urban strategy for the city of Kremenchuk and a plan for the transformation of the embankment on the left bank of the Dnipro River.
In preparing the plan, we will draw on our work from the Integrated Vision of the Dnipro River project, in which we analysed the territory of Kremenchuk and developed recommendations for the region.
We aim to create an effective plan for the city that will- Help address climate challenges.- Support local authorities in implementing environmental initiatives- Serve as an example for other cities in Ukraine.
The plan has two levels:1. Urban scale - development of a spatial plan taking into account mobility, environment and energy. We will focus on connecting the city to the river, developing parks and pedestrian areas.2. Location study - detailed study of one selected area with 3D visualisation and functional zoning.
Thanks to this project, Kremenchuk has a chance to become an example for other Ukrainian cities in the field of sustainable development. By developing resilience to climate change, the city will be able to reduce environmental risks, ensure a healthy environment for residents and create comfortable conditions for their well-being.
