We invite you to participate in the UREHERIT urban hackathon in Lviv!

The next urban hackathon dedicated to the comprehensive renovation of modernist housing neighborhoods in Lviv will take place in June.

We see the “Comprehensive Renovation of Modernist Housing” as a comprehensive approach that takes into account various aspects: spatial and technical quality, social influence, process efficiency, economic effect, and environmental impact - to avoid hasty decisions that could worsen the overall condition of the urban environment.

Traditionally, the urban hackathon will bring together five interdisciplinary teams that will analyze the challenges of renovation from different perspectives, complementing this with visual concepts for the future development of Lviv's modernist districts.

We invite architects, urbanists, urban activists, visual artists, local residents, architecture students, and other stakeholders, such as local business owners, community or municipal representatives, professionals involved in the development of condominiums, chairmen of condominiums and apartment building managers who want to join the process of urban renewal and heritage preservation in Ukraine.

The application for participation in the hackathon must be submitted by May 20, 2025 at 23.59 Ukrainian time.

The Urban Hack is organized by the Estonian Association of Architects, NGO Ro3kvit Urban Coalition for Ukraine, in cooperation with Architects Associaton of Lihtuania, Kharkiv School of Architecture and the city of Lviv. The hack is part of a series of 4 Urban Hacks in Ukraine within the scope of the European cultural project “UREHERIT”, funded by the European Union, with additional funding from ESTDEV – Estonian Centre for International Development, Republic of Estonia Ministry of Culture and Swedish Institute.
