Ro3kvit team
On December 12 in Lviv City, we concluded the project “Neighborhood Planning for Sustainable Recovery” with a public event that brought together the results of our work on three neighborhood strategies for communities in the Lviv region.
Over the past five months, the Ro3kvit team, with the support from UN-Habitat Ukraine, worked closely with the communities of Stryi, Drohobych, and Truskavets. We analyzed neighbourhood spatial structure of neighborhoods, engaged with residents, tested development scenarios, identified priorities, and jointly developed project portfolios that can become the foundation for real change.
During the final event, we presented the outcomes of this collaborative process: analytical maps, key insights, and project ideas shaped through close dialogue with the communities.
By the end of the year, each community will receive complete Neighborhood Strategies in both Ukrainian and English 📝
This project once again confirmed the value of working at the neighborhood scale. It allows usto better understand residents’ everyday needs, build coherent networks of spaces and services, and engage people in decisions that directly affect their lives. For these reasons, neighbourhood strategies have a strong potential for implementation.
We are grateful for the partnership and openness of the Drohobych City Institute, Drohobych City Council, Truskavets City Council, and Stryi City Council. Special thanks also go to the civil society organizations and neighborhood residents who took part in interviews, workshops, and discussions.
We see recovery as a process of change—at the level of neighborhoods, everyday routes, and decisions that truly matter to people.
The project “Concepts for the Development of Neighborhoods in Lviv Region (Truskavets, Drohobych, Stryi)” is implemented by the urbanist coalition Ro3kvit in partnership with the local communities and support from UN-Habitat Ukraine .
